The town of Warren was granted in 1763 to several people, most notable was named John Page.  Warren was named in honor of Admiral Sir Peter Warren.  Admiral Warren commanded a fleet during a conflict with Canada that ended in the capture of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia in 1745.  This united the colonies with a common goal and gave them proper fishing and fur trading rights.  In 1770, the original grant was renewed when it was discovered that the town line was actually incorrect and an additional piece of property was added to the grant.  The town library of Warren bears its name from the first settler in Warren, Joseph Patch, who built a cabin there in 1767.
