Piermont, New Hampshire, is a small bedroom community nestled on the border between Vermont and New Hampshire. Piermont was named after the town of Piedmont, in the Italian Alps mountain range. Most of the people listed in the charter were noblemen or held a military title. The charter to have this settlement incorporated as a town was issued in 1764, but the first actual settlements weren't created until roughly 1768. Lake Tarleton, in Piermont, was once on the property of William Tarleton, who was a delegate for the Constitutional Convention in 1791, and he also held the title of member of the presidential Electoral College in the year 1804.

Piermont is part of the New Hampshire School Administrative Unit #23. SAU #23 educates the children from the towns of Piermont, Bath, Woodsville, Haverhill, Warren, and Benton. The children of Piermont grades K through 8 are taught at the Piermont Village School, then for grades 9 through 12 they are tuitioned at the Woodsville High School. Woodsville High School has a wide variety of sports, which include soccer, golf, skiing, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, and also track and field.
