Orange, New Hampshire

Orange, New Hampshire, is a small town tucked away in the bottom of Grafton County.  Orange is a town with very few people in it, populated only by roughly 315 people, making it one of the least populated towns in New Hampshire.  Located only a short distance away from Concord and Manchester, this town makes it easy for resident who needs to travel to larger cities for a morning commute.  This town is located right on the border of the New Hampshire White Mountain National Forest, which provides residents and tourists alike with much opportunity for activities involving friends or family.

The town of Orange, New Hampshire, was originally known as Cardigan.  Chartered by Governor Wentworth in 1769, the people of Cardigan wished to be incorporated as a township, so that they could collect taxes.  They, however, wished to have the name of the town changed to either Bradford or Warwick.  This petition failed, but another was created in 1783, to change the name to Middleton.  This petition failed also, and another was created 1789, wishing to have the name changed to Liscomb.  The petition passed, but the name Liscomb was crossed out, and replaced by the current name of Orange.

Orange is a calm and tranquil town; an excellent place to settle down.  Plenty of activities in this town will bring you closer to the few people that live in it, creating a family-like feel.  Trails in the mountains give the outdoorsman a great opportunity to hike, ski, bicycle, or just go out and appreciate the serene landscape that is the White Mountains.  This town offers benefits to raising a family here as well, such as an active Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop, school sports such as soccer, football, and baseball, and plenty more exciting activities for young adults and small children to take part in.

Orange, New Hampshire, is part of the School Administrative Unit #62, which encompasses the children from the towns of Enfield, Canaan, Orange, Dorchester, and Grafton.  Children in grades 1-4 are sent to the Canaan Elementary School, grades 5-8 are sent to Indian River School, also in Canaan.  And for grades 9-12, children from Orange are educated at Mascoma Valley Regional High School.
