Hebron, New Hampshire

Hebron, New Hampshire, is a tiny town in the Granite State’s Lakes Region.  There is only a few under 500 people living in this quaint town, which makes it perfect for any home buyer who likes their privacy.  This town is very close to the third largest body of water in New Hampshire, Newfound Lake, which is the ideal location for anybody who enjoys swimming, fishing, or just a nice fresh water breeze in the summertime.  The little town of Hebron is an ideal place to raise children, away from the bustling life and busy streets of cities such as Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire.

Hebron, New Hampshire was established in 1791, by villagers of both the towns of Groton (which was then known as Cockermouth), and Plymouth.  The southwest corner of Plymouth had petitioned in court to have that section of the town made into it's own little township.  The court case won, and that particular corner of Plymouth is now known as Hebron.  The name was suggested by Samuel Phelps in honor of Hebron, Connecticut, the city from which several settlers originated.

Hebron is an excellent place to raise a family – a place steeped in New England tradition and family values. For outdoor activities this town is known to be an excellent hunting spot, especially in the wintertime.  Another popular sport in Hebron is fishing, something that attracts anglers for miles around, due mostly to the fact that Newfound Lake is right next to the town itself.  For all the residents’ shopping needs, Plymouth, NH, is a mere fifteen minutes down the road and boasts numerous stores including a Hannaford shopping center and a Wal-Mart.  Just about anything anyone living in Hebron may need can be found in Plymouth.

The town of Hebron is a part of the Newfound Area School District and educates it’s own students from kindergarten age through the fifth grade at the Bridgewater-Hebron Village School.  This district is a member of the School Administrative Unit #4 in New Hampshire.  There are several other towns that utilize this school district as well: Alexandria, Bridgewater, Bristol, Danbury, Groton and New Hampton.
