The town of Lyndeborough was incorporated in 1764 and was named after Benjamin Lynde a prominent court judge in Salem Ma.

Lyndeborough gained recognition as a major glass supplier. The Lyndeborough Glass Factory was in operation from 1866 to 1886 and produced the most exquisite glass in the New England states. Peter Clark Pottery was another company that was located in this small town producing superb red clay pottery. Today both glass and pottery are very collectible today.

The Lyndeborough Historical Society maintains the town’s antiquities, Lafayette Artillery Company, Citizens’ Hall and the Lyndeborough Center Historic District are all listed on the National Register of historic places. The Center Historic District consists of the Congregational Church (1836), Town Hall (1846), and remnants of the Town Pound (1774).

Being an agricultural town Lyndeborough’s main crop was blueberries. Tons of blueberries were harvested and shipped to neighboring states up to the 1860’s. Around that time apples replaced the blueberry crops and today maple syrup is the main crop that the town produces.

Lyndeborough’s school system is excellent and have  smaller classes so teachers are able to dedicate more time to students that require extra help. Lyndeborough Central School is for grades 1-6 and Wilton Lyndeborough Cooperative High School is for grades 7-12.

The annual Lyndeborough Community Day is a day everyone in town looks forward to, planned activities include a Civil War Encampment, silent auction, music, magicians and circus acts. Vendors prepare lunch and dinners available to the public.
