Hooksett, New Hampshire

The busy town of Hooksett, New Hampshire welcomes you with friendly smiles and open arms.  This industrious community of just over 13,000 people is located in southern-central New Hampshire, just between the state capital of Concord to the north and the fast-paced city of Manchester to the south.  Hooksett is a place with lots to see and do, plenty of stores and shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.  Beautiful neighborhoods situated far from the busy Interstate lend to the classic New England values that New Hampshire is renowned for.  If you’re looking to purchase a home in a conveniently located town with lots going on and always plenty to keep you occupied, Hooksett is the end of your search.

The area to become Hooksett was originally known as Chester Woods and Rowe’s Corner.  First settled some time in the early- to mid-1700’s, the name was changed to Hooksett around 1775.  The reason for this is only speculated upon now, but many assume it was named for the hook-shaped island in the Merrimack River near the village.  Hooksett residents were primarily farmers, fisherman or worked in the mills powered by the Merrimack.  The mills began producing textiles in the form of cotton and woolen materials, but because of increased competition from the mills in the city of Manchester to the south, lumber mills and other types of mills started popping up.  The town of Hooksett was finally incorporated in 1822

Living in Hooksett means you never have to travel far to get what you need.  Unlike some towns further to the north, there is no need to drive thirty minutes to buy groceries when you live in Hooksett.  Hooksett is home to several large shopping chains as well as countless “Mom & Pop” operations.  Buy a car, get your hair done, visit a museum, see a movie, play golf and tennis, eat at a five-star restaurant – all without leaving this enthralling town.  And if you do need to leave town, I-93, I-89, Route 3A and Route 101 are all just a stone’s throw away; literally within minutes of your door.

Hooksett is a great place to buy a home, not just because everything is convenient, but also because at the core of it all, Hooksett is a traditional New England town with a focus on family.  There is always something going on to keep the kids busy and busy kids are kids that stay out of trouble.  Organized youth sports, Scouting, 4H and many more recreational activities are available to kids living in Hooksett.
