Hales Location, New Hampshire
While traveling through the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire, you will almost certainly come across the busy town of Conway. Continue north, and you’ll soon be in Conway’s sister-community of North Conway, another busy town full of souvenir shops, convenience stores, restaurants and campgrounds. As you travel the road (Route 16) between them, you will unknowingly pass through one of the smallest townships in all of New Hampshire: Hale’s Location, population 60.
Hale’s Location is an unincorporated parcel of land only 2.4 square miles in size. Located in Carroll County, the township (but not a true town) is tucked between Conway and North Conway under the towering rock formation known as White Horse Ledge. Hale’s Location has a limited form of self-government and receives most of its services from nearby Conway or North Conway. Almost a completely residential community, Hale’s Location’s two largest employers are the White Mountain Hotel and the Hale’s Location Golf Club. The nearby Hale’s Location Country Club is not actually in Hale’s Location, but North Conway.
There is plenty to keep one’s self busy in the area of Hale’s Location, but most residents are happy to enjoy the peaceful tranquility that their little piece of the world affords them. The natural beauty of Cathedral Ledge and White Horse Ledge, the highest point in Hale’s Location, give the entire area a sense of surreal beauty that is usually only seen in postcards. Living in an area surrounded by such stunning views and inspiring vistas gives residents a sense of quiet belonging.
Hale’s Location has very few school-age students living within. Those that do, however, are educated at Conway Elementary, Kennett Middle School and Kennett High School, all found in neighboring Conway, NH. There are no plans to change this arrangement any time soon.
Living in the heart of thick, green forests and tower mountains puts you in touch with your surroundings in a way that can’t be realized in larger towns and municipalities. This part of New Hampshire is often referred to as “God’s Country” because of the pristine, natural beauty that encompasses everywhere you turn. There are not often homes for sale in Hale’s Location, but when one appears on the market, you can be sure it sells fast. That’s why, if you’re considering a home purchase in this area of the ate, you need someone on your side who knows the region and the NH real estate market like no other. You need someone who understands the ins and outs of home buying in the Granite State, someone who will work for you to get you exactly what you want in a house and a community.
