The residents of this community emphasize education and Greenville has its own elementary school and shares the middle and high schools with neighboring town of New Ipswich. Being a small town many of the retail outlets are small family owned stores.

The 2010 Census estimate for Greenville was 2,105 residents, which ranked 137th among New Hampshire's incorporated cities and towns. Three state highways pass through Greenville.

Greenville has a charming historic village with a vibrant and rich history. Incorporated in 1872, its location at the High Falls on the Souhegan River provided access to plentiful waterpower for the state's first manufacturing businesses. At one time, there were factories making cotton, woolen goods, furniture, shoes, twine, flour, and lead pencils.

The Columbian Manufacturing Company was established in 1826 to make textiles in both Greenville and New Ipswich. The Columbian is long gone but its excellent brick buildings still stand in the village along with Queen Anne style homes on side streets. The mills are now used for other businesses.

Traditions in this small community are very important. The Boston Post Cane has one of the oldest traditions started in 1911 where a symbolic cane is presented to the oldest resident of the town.  Greenville hosts an Independence Day festival where people from the community gather in Town Field for food, festivities and incredible fireworks.
