America’s Stonehenge – Salem, NH
Formerly known as “Mystery Hill”, this unusual site contains a maze of chambers, walls, inscriptions and precisely placed stones. Just who built it is unknown, but at over 4000 years old, it is likely the oldest structure in the United States. Similar to England’s Stonehenge, America’s Stonehenge was and still is used to denote certain lunar and solar events throughout the year.

Christa McAuliffe Planetarium – Concord, NH
The planetarium was named after a New Hampshire teacher who was intended to be the first “ordinary citizen” to go into space. This dream was tragically ended in the 1986 Challenger disaster. In her memory was created the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, a place where young and old alike could learn about rockets, comets, asteroids, our own Solar system and beyond. The planetarium has shows for groups as well as individuals and the staff is always eager to speak with you about the wonders of our universe.
Clark’s Trading Post – Lincoln, NH
In business for almost 80 years, Clark’s Trading Post is the home of Clark’s Trained Bears as well as the White Mountain Central Railroad. The main attraction, the trained, native black bears, draws crowds from everywhere while other attractions simply mystify or entertain. Tuttle’s Rustic House, for example, will have you scratching your head in wonder as you watch pool balls roll uphill and water appear from nowhere in this very unusual home. Merlin’s Mystery Mansion is another unusual home built right atop a “unique gravity point”, lending to strange and magical occurrences. Conway Scenic Railroad – North Conway, NH
Pick your train and be ready for an afternoon of breathtaking scenery and stunning vistas. The Valley Train takes you on a ride through the Mt. Washington Valley countryside and the surrounding mountains on a roundtrip to Conway or Bartlett, NH. The Notch Train follows the rails through some of the most beautiful scenery the Granite State has to offer on its way through Crawford Notch to Crawford Depot or Fabyan Station. Coppal House Farm and Corn Maze – Lee, NH
Come visit a working farm and see just how much hard work goes into its operation. In the fall, Coppal House Farm creates the area’s largest corn maze, usually in the shape of something that can only be recognized from the sky. Moonlight maze runs, tractor and wagon rides, animals and more can be found at the farm. Starting in October 2007, the Haunted Overload, a four-day frightfest, comes to Coppal House Farm. Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride Area – Bennington, NH
In southern New Hampshire you don’t have to drive far for the excitement of winter skiing and riding – it’s all here at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride. Five lifts serve over 75 acres of skiing and riding trails. While not the highest at only 875 feet of elevation, the exhilarating slopes give you plenty of bang for your buck – add in the availability of night skiing over 100% of the mountain and you’ve got yourself a bargain at half the price. The Gundalow Company – Portsmouth, NH
A gundalow is a wooden ship that was used to transport goods up and down rivers from the 1600’s through to the 1900’s. Now obsolete, the Gundalow Company lovingly maintain a reproduction of an 1800’s era Gundalow, the Captain Edward H. Adams. Visitors to the Gundalow Company can learn about the history behind these important vessels as well as take part in the maintenance and occasional moving of this historic means of transportation. The gundalow is moved in the same fashion as it was so many years ago and makes stops at other historically significant locations up and down the Piscataqua River.

The Loon Preservation Committee – Moultonborough, NH
Located in the heart of New Hampshire, the Loon Preservation Committee has worked for over 25 years to research, manage and educate the public on the loon population here in the Granite State. We attempt to monitor the breeding and mortality of loon populations as well as build nesting rafts and protect nesting sites.
