"2007’s Most Livable State"

For the fourth year in a row, the picturesque New England state of New Hampshire has been honored by Morgan Quinto Press as the “Most Livable State” in the nation. This year New Hampshire edged out Minnesota to take first place yet again in the fifty state rating system that considers many variables including economic, environmental, educational and public safety statistics.

For 17 years Morgan Quinto Press has bestowed upon one state each year its prestigious “Most Livable State Award” based on 44 factors within each state, such as crime rates, household income, employment rates, tax rates and business climates. New Hampshire has managed to garner this award four years straight and an amazing seven times in the past 17 years. With over 40% of all the awards being given out going to just New Hampshire, there must be a secret to the state’s success.

New Hampshire governor John Lynch was pleased, but not surprised that his state has captured the award so regularly.

"The report reaffirms what the citizens of our state already know — New Hampshire is a great place to live and work," said the governor. "We must continue to work to make sure New Hampshire continues to lead the nation by focusing on what's important to our families and businesses — improving the quality of education, strengthening our economy, making health care more accessible and affordable, protecting our natural resources and ensuring the safety of all our citizens and visitors."

Eliza Leadbeater, the executive director of the Belknap County Economic Development Council, had this to say: "When you talk about a livable state a lot of things come into play. A lot of people talk about the ease of life here and we often don't realize what we really have access to ... it's a safe place, we have access to good health care and people are treated equal,"

The White Mountain National Forest contains some of New England’s most stunning scenic vistas, remote hiking and camping areas, downhill skiing and snowboarding and also Mt. Washington, the east coast’s tallest mountain. The lakes region of the state is home to Lake Winnipesaukee, a 72 square mile water playground with hundreds of islands and planned events throughout the year. New Hampshire’s seacoast boasts sun and sand, fishing, clamming, water sports, parasailing, live entertainment and more. Historic towns and cities dot the NH landscape, state parks are found by the dozen and did we mention that New Hampshire is State Tax-Free?
