Hopkinton, New Hampshire

Located just six miles west of the New Hampshire state capital of Concord, lies Hopkinton, a mid-size town of about 6000 residents.  Set in the south-central part of the state, Hopkinton offers a great location with ease of travel and the convenience of a large city very close by.  Surrounded by the natural beauty that is central New Hampshire, Hopkinton is a wonderful community in which to purchase a home and start a family – or relocate and retire in peace.  Hopkinton has a lot to offer young and old alike, particularly a friendly wave or smiling face – something it seems we’re seeing less and less of these days.

Much as was most of the region in central-southern New Hampshire, the area to become Hopkinton was designated a number; in this case, #5.  The first settlers in this area appeared in the early 1700’s and many of them were from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and chose to rename the settlement New Hopkinton.  When the town was finally incorporated in 1765, the name of Hopkinton was finalized.  A few mills utilized the Contoocook River’s waterpower, but most of the residents were farmers, hunters or tradesmen.  Today, Hopkinton is an active community with thriving businesses, quiet, contented neighborhoods, a great school system and plenty of stunning New Hampshire beauty.

With Concord just a few miles to the east, Hopkinton residents live the best of both worlds.  Concord is home to countless shopping opportunities, dining experiences, and entertainment venues.  If you can’t find something to do in Concord, check your pulse.  Or just travel fifteen minutes south of Concord to the Granite State’s largest city, the Queen City of Manchester.  In Manchester you’ll find not only the best in dining, shopping and entertainment, but also the Manchester Airport which can take you just about anywhere in the state you want to go.  And after your travels, you’ll return to the quiet country sounds of Hopkinton.  What could be better?

Hopkinton is a part of School Administrative Unit #66 and educates all its own students.  Resident children from preschool age through the sixth grade attend either the Harold Martin or Maple Street Elementary Schools.  Students from seventh grade to twelfth grade are educated at the Hopkinton Middle/High School.
