Hollis NH

Hollis, originally part of Dunstable Massachusetts, is located in Hillsborough County NH and was incorporated in 1746. It was named in honor of John Holles, the Earl of Clare. Even though it was an incorporated town, it was not until 1786 that its borders were permanently established. Hollis is 38 miles northwest of Boston MA and 22 miles from the Boston-Manchester Regional Airport.

There are many working farms in Hollis producing everything from strawberries to pumpkins and corn. Farmstands can be found on almost every road. An estimated 2000 acres of farmland is used every year to grow crops and harvest time is a special event.

Hollis has a number of town traditions and celebrations characteristics of old New England towns including two harvest festivals and the annual celebration of "Old Home Days." Hollis was originally established as a farming community and agriculture is still a major part of its revenue today.

Hollis Historical Society maintains all of the historical sites and homes that this incredible town contains. The majority of historical homes in this community are over 200 years old and are kept in pristine condition. Tours of these homes and other historical attractions are offered through the historical society.

Hollis’ advanced school system consists of two elementary schools which students K-6 attend. The middle and high school students share Hollis/Brookline Middle School and Hollis/Brookline High School with neighboring Brookline NH.

Outdoor activities in this community include hiking, biking, swimming, fishing and camping. The quiet unspoiled beauty of this town makes it the perfect place to live.
