Derry is located in Rockingham County; it is the fourth largest community in the state of New Hampshire. Many of the homes in Derry are original and date back to the 1700’s and 1800’s. Neil Armstrong is another famous resident of this community, because of Neil Armstrong, it gained the nickname of “Space Town”. The first potato planted in the United States was planted in Derry in 1719.

According to the 2010 Census there are approximately 33,109 residents. This historic community is 42 miles away from Boston MA and is crossed by 2 major highways.

Residents of Derry put a high emphasis on education. The school system in this town is second to none and is home to two of the oldest private schools in the country. Pinkerton Academy founded in 1814 and Adams Female Seminary, which has recently closed, has existed in this community for almost a hundred years. There are five elementary schools and two middle schools in this community. Pinkerton Academy serves as the only public high school.

There are many activities for the residents of Derry including exercise classes, walking groups, martial arts, basketball games and taking children to the many playgrounds and parks.  There is always something to do for the residents of this quiet and rustic town.

Families in this community enjoy swimming, camping, fishing and hiking in the incredible woods that surround this town. Shopping malls that include all major retailer and grocery stores can be found in this community as well as many farm stands in the summer and fall.
