Pinkerton Academy founded in 1814 and Adams Female Seminary, which has recently closed, has existed in this community for almost a hundred years. There are five elementary schools and two middle schools in this community. Pinkerton Academy serves as the only public high school.
There are many activities for the residents of Derry including exercise classes, walking groups, martial arts, basketball games and taking children to the many playgrounds and parks. There is always something to do for the residents of this quiet and rustic town.
Families in this community enjoy swimming, camping, fishing and hiking in the incredible woods that surround this town. Shopping malls that include all major retailer and grocery stores can be found in this community as well as many farm stands in the summer and fall.
