America’s Stonehenge – Salem, NH
Formerly known as “Mystery Hill”, this unusual site contains a maze of chambers, walls, inscriptions and precisely placed stones.  Just who built it is unknown, but at over 4000 years old, it is likely the oldest structure in the United States.  Similar to England’s Stonehenge, America’s Stonehenge was and still is used to denote certain lunar and solar events throughout the year.

Applecrest Farms Orchards – Hampton Falls, NH

Attitash – Bartlett, NH
A two-peak, twelve lift, seventy-trail skiing and riding haven in the wintertime, Attitash has much to offer families in the off-season.  In addition to hiking and mountain biking trails, Attitash is home to North America’s longest Alpine Slides as well as a EuroBungy Trampoline, a climbing wall, horseback riding, multiple water slides and a scenic Sky Ride.  Just over an hour from the seacoast, Attitash has something for everyone.

The Ballooning Center of New Hampshire – Derry, NH

Bonnie Brae Farms – Plymouth, NH
Bonnie Brae Farms is a Red Deer farm that breeds Red Deer for their meat (venison) and their velvet antlers (used as a nutritional supplement).  Bonnie Brae Farms offers tours and educational materials on the breeding and use of deer for consumer products.  These stunningly majestic animals make for great picture taking.

Brookdale Fruit Farm – Hollis, NH
Get ready to pick your own fruit at the Brookdale Fruit Farm in Hollis.  Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, apples and pumpkins are all available at different times of the year, so call ahead or visit their website.  Brookdale also boasts a wonderful greenhouse brimming with a variety of flowering and non-flowering plants.  Professional, courteous staff members are always ready to answer any questions, so don’t be shy.

Canobie Lake Park – Salem, NH
If you live in New England, you know about Canobie Lake Park, the region’s largest family fun amusement park.  With exhilarating attractions such as roller coasters, log rides and more spinning rides than you can shake a stick at, children of all ages will be in heaven.  Midway games, video arcades, boat rides, a new water park area, food stands and restaurants, live entertainment – Canobie has it all at very reasonable prices.  Plan for a whole day at Canobie - call for hours or visit their website.

Charmingfare Farm – Candia, NH
Conveniently located in Candia, New Hampshire, Charmingfare Farm boasts over 200 animals of over 40 different species.  Barn animals include chickens, goats, horses, alpacas, pigs, rabbits and ducks.  Of the farm’s wild animals, there are porcupines, a black bear, cougars, a lynx, owls, fisher cats, raccoons, a red fox and more.  Open seven days a week from 10:00 to 4:00, you’ll find the farm fun and educational for all ages.

Christa McAuliffe Planetarium – Concord, NH
The planetarium was named after a New Hampshire teacher who was intended to be the first “ordinary citizen” to go into space.  This dream was tragically ended in the 1986 Challenger disaster.  In her memory was created the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, a place where young and old alike could learn about rockets, comets, asteroids, our own Solar system and beyond.  The planetarium has shows for groups as well as individuals and the staff is always eager to speak with you about the wonders of our universe.

Clark’s Trading Post – Lincoln, NH
In business for almost 80 years, Clark’s Trading Post is the home of Clark’s Trained Bears as well as the White Mountain Central Railroad.  The main attraction, the trained, native black bears, draws crowds from everywhere while other attractions simply mystify or entertain.  Tuttle’s Rustic House, for example, will have you scratching your head in wonder as you watch pool balls roll uphill and water appear from nowhere in this very unusual home.  Merlin’s Mystery Mansion is another unusual home built right atop a “unique gravity point”, lending to strange and magical occurrences.  Clark’s also offers a gift shop, train rides, the Seyranyan Family Circus, five museums and more.

Conway Scenic Railroad – North Conway, NH
Pick your train and be ready for an afternoon of breathtaking scenery and stunning vistas.  The Valley Train takes you on a ride through the Mt. Washington Valley countryside and the surrounding mountains on a roundtrip to Conway or Bartlett, NH.  The Notch Train follows the rails through some of the most beautiful scenery the Granite State has to offer on its way through Crawford Notch to Crawford Depot or Fabyan Station.  These incredible excursions are seasonal, so call or visit their website before you go.

Coppal House Farm and Corn Maze – Lee, NH
Come visit a working farm and see just how much hard work goes into its operation.  In the fall, Coppal House Farm creates the area’s largest corn maze, usually in the shape of something that can only be recognized from the sky.  Moonlight maze runs, tractor and wagon rides, animals and more can be found at the farm.  Starting in October 2007, the Haunted Overload, a four-day frightfest, comes to Coppal House Farm.  Tickets must be pre-ordered for this event, so call or visit their website for more details.

Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride Area – Bennington, NH
In southern New Hampshire you don’t have to drive far for the excitement of winter skiing and riding – it’s all here at Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride.  Five lifts serve over 75 acres of skiing and riding trails.  While not the highest at only 875 feet of elevation, the exhilarating slopes give you plenty of bang for your buck – add in the availability of night skiing over 100% of the mountain and you’ve got yourself a bargain at half the price.  The mountain events are seasonal, so call ahead.

D Acres of NH, Organic Farm & Educational Homestead - Rumney, NH
D Acres stands for “Development Aimed at Creating Rural Ecological Society”.  D Acres is a charitable organization operating an organic farm and educational center which also produces woodcrafted products, farm products and baked goods.  D Acres strives to educate the public and teach sustainable living skills and small-scale organic farming.  Events and workshops are held year-round, so call ahead or check their website for details.

Daytona Fun Park – Laconia, NH

The Gundalow Company – Portsmouth, NH
A gundalow is a wooden ship that was used to transport goods up and down rivers from the 1600’s through to the 1900’s.  Now obsolete, the Gundalow Company lovingly maintain a reproduction of an 1800’s era Gundalow, the Captain Edward H. Adams.  Visitors to the Gundalow Company can learn about the history behind these important vessels as well as take part in the maintenance and occasional moving of this historic means of transportation.  The gundalow is moved in the same fashion as it was so many years ago and makes stops at other historically significant locations up and down the Piscataqua River.

The Loon Preservation Committee – Moultonborough, NH

Mt. Washington Cog Railway – Mt. Washington, NH
Enjoy an unforgettable trip up to the peak of Mt.
